SDS Acquires SMA_RT Software Product from Type80 Security Software, Inc.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN and ALEXANDRIA, VA – May 15, 2017 – Software Diversified Services (SDS), a global leader in mainframe software, announced they have entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the SMA_RT software product from Type80 Security Software, Inc. SMA_RT is a real-time mainframe intrusion detection, SIEM agent, and log event processing product for z/OS. The acquisition was completed on May 15, 2017. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
SMA_RT (Security Monitor Alerts – Real Time) is a renowned, patented z/OS security offering that was the first SIEM agent for IBM z/OS. SMA_RT is a revolutionary product that provides the ability to view cross-platform security event log data in real time. It provides IT security departments a true enterprise-wide view of security activity, threats, and intrusions.
SMA_RT delivers security event messages from z/OS – RACF, CA-ACF2, CA-Top Secret, DB2, CICS, FTP, and TCP/IP – to distributed security information and event management (SIEM) systems. It seamlessly brings the distributed and mainframe worlds together.
SMA_RT for z/OS has certified integrations with IBM QRadar and HP ArcSight as well as field integrations with other leading SIEM solutions, including Splunk. The SIEM agent installs quickly, uses minimal resources, and does not require extensive training, ongoing maintenance, or administration.
