MINNEAPOLIS, MN – June 14, 2024 – Software Diversified Services (SDS) is very pleased to announce a new release of CICS Application File Control (CAFC) 6.2.00 is Generally Available.
This will accomplish your expectations of SDS offering day one support for IBM CICS Transaction Server for z/OS (CICS/TS) 6.2.
CAFC 6.2.00 also provides additional functionality and new features. These user-requested enhancements were implemented by the SDS CICS development team in recent months.
*IBM CICS/TS 6.2, became Generally Available today, June 14, 2024. This extends the streak of offering day one support for each new version of CICS/TS dating back to the SDS acquisition of CAFC in 2016.
Highlights of the CAFC 6.2.00 Release
- Support for CICS Transaction Server5 through 6.2.
- CAFC internal tracing is now on by default when the table file is converted.
- Two CAFC FCT and DCT options, Automatic Allocation and Free on Close, default to No as CICS now performs these functions automatically.
- CICS program and mapset names can now be defined to CAFC and enabled and disabled via the batch interface.
- The batch STRT command can now handle data longer than the previous maximum of 45 characters.
- To reduce below the line storage use, many CAFC CICS programs have been changed to RM 31.
- The CAFC SVC now obtains more storage above the line to reduce below the line requirements within regions.
- CAFC internal subroutine tracing is enhanced to show the offset within the calling program of a subroutine call when possible, rather than the PSW address as in previous releases.
- The ATTR interface has been extended to the CAFC ISPF interface.
- Several new CAFC types have been added to allow a more granular ability to grant or restrict access to various CAFC commands.
- To help backup and restore CAFC table file changes, the extended CAFC table file maintenance facility has been expanded to include a series of EXPORT commands.
